Across bridge starts with two networks you can actually use

An across bridge transfer moves crypto assets from one blockchain network to another. A network is the system that records your wallet transaction; Ethereum, for example, is different from other networks even when the same token name appears on both. Before you begin, confirm the network holding your funds and the network where you need them. When those two answers are clear, across bridge takes you to the Across bridge.

The part many first-time users skip is that a token can exist on more than one network without being interchangeable. Sending funds to the wrong network can leave you with an asset you cannot use for the payment, trade, or app you planned to reach.

1. One wallet connection needs the correct account and network

Your wallet is the app or browser extension that controls your crypto address. Open it first and check the account shown, the current network, and the available balance. If you have more than one wallet account, do not assume the selected one is the account that holds the funds.

  • You need access to the wallet and its approval prompts.
  • You need enough of the network’s native token to pay the transaction fee.
  • You need to know the destination network before choosing an asset.

2. The token balance must include the amount you will not bridge

A transaction fee is the amount paid to the network for processing your request. Keep a small remainder of the native token in the source wallet rather than using its entire balance. If you bridge every unit, you may have no balance left to approve or correct a follow-up action on that network.

3. The destination address must be yours before you confirm

An address is the public identifier for a wallet on a network. For a first transfer, use your own connected wallet as the destination whenever possible. Read the first and last characters of the address, then check the destination network again. A correct-looking address on the wrong network is still the wrong destination for your purpose.

4. The quoted route has to fit your deadline and tolerance

A route is the proposed path for moving the asset. Review the asset, source network, destination network, amount, and displayed output before approving. The advantage of bridging is that it can put funds where you need them without a separate withdrawal process. Its limit is that network conditions, approvals, and route availability can change; do not start immediately before a deadline or with money you need for an urgent payment.

Your transaction hash is the check that proves it worked

After submission, your wallet should show a transaction hash: a unique record number for the transfer. Check that it is confirmed on the source network, then switch your wallet to the destination network and look for the received balance. A submitted transaction is not the same as a completed result. It worked only when the destination balance appears at the correct address, on the correct network, in the token you intended to receive.
